Dr. Mary Rose Goldstein, lead audiologist at Center for Neurosciences, was invited by the Hearing Journal podcast to speak about her aided speech testing research and how it relates to the recently revised minimum speech test battery developed for cochlear implants. The joint interview with Dr. Terry Zwolan highlights the importance of utilizes consistent speech recognition materials across the entire audiologic rehabilitation spectrum. Less than 35% of audiologists evaluate a patient’s aided speech recognition after fitting a patient with hearing aids and Dr. Goldstein’s research shines the light on a gap in the current audiology care model and recommends use of aided speech testing for objective hearing aid validation.
