MD
Ryan Austerman is a highly accomplished neurosurgeon with extensive training and experience in his field. He is known for his dedication to his patients and for advancing the field through research and innovation.
Dr. Austerman completed his seven-year neurosurgery residency at Houston Methodist Hospital. At the 2018 meeting of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, he was recognized as the country’s “Top Gun,” an accolade awarded to a resident who excels in neurosurgical skills and knowledge through simulated procedures. He was also selected as a “Burrough’s Wellcome Fund” fellow, a prestigious program dedicated to training surgeons with a love for innovation and research.
Following his residency, Dr. Austerman pursued a fellowship in Functional Neurosurgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, specializing in the surgical management of epilepsy, movement disorders, trigeminal neuralgia, and spine conditions. He is well-trained on the latest treatment options and technologies, including 3D-printed deep brain stimulation guides, brain stimulation for epilepsy and minimally invasive spine surgeries.
Dr. Austerman’s practice combines cutting-edge treatment options with a patient-centric approach to make the experience as easy as possible. He offers the latest innovations, often only available in major teaching hospitals, but with the service and approachability of a smaller practice. A major reason he joined CNS was access to the resources and flexibility to build his practice while focusing on the patient experience. Everything is ultimately about the patient, so keeping them first is his top priority.
