Radiofrequency treatment uses radio waves that produce heat to interrupt signals from the nerve that is causing pain. This minimally invasive procedure can be used to treat a number of painful conditions, including back, head, neck, leg and other areas where pain occurs.

Radiofrequency treatment usually follows the use of a diagnostic nerve block – a test in which a nerve is numbed to learn if it is the cause of pain. This confirms the source of the pain and predicts the relief that can be expected from the radiofrequency procedure.
