<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\nThe Center for Neurosciences is home to Southern Arizona\u2019s only Neuro-Oncologist, who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of brain and spinal cord tumors. Treatment may include chemotherapy, surgery, radiation or a combination. Our Neuro-Oncologist works closely with the team to identify and provide the best possible treatment for each patient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Neurosurgery<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\nInitial treatment for most brain tumors is surgery. Our neurosurgeons all frequently perform craniotomies, in which the tumor is removed through an opening in the skull. In cases where the tumor is located near the areas of the brain that control language or motor function, a craniotomy may be done while the patient is awake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Radiation Oncology<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\nOur radiation oncologists work with the medical oncologists and surgeons as part of a multi-disciplinary team to plan the best course of treatment for each patient. Combined with our neuro-oncologist and neurosurgeons, we offer specialized care in a single location for those patients with malignant and benign brain and spinal tumors as well as some vascular and nerve disorder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
External Imaging Review<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\nOur Brain Tumor Center offers External Imaging Review for anyone diagnosed with a brain or spinal cord tumor. This External Imaging Review is intended to provide a second opinion regarding the treatment of tumors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Clinical Research Program<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\nOur team of highly-trained specialists is dedicated to finding cures and is committed to the compassionate care of patients with brain and spinal cord tumors. We work with our patients to ensure they have access to the most promising experimental treatments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
